As part of the Our Streets Chorlton project, Open Data Manchester will be carrying out data monitoring and collection, including air quality measurements and traffic surveys.

We are helping to form a local group of ‘Data Champions’, as part of the wider Our Street Chorlton Champions group development, to help carry out traffic surveys, along with other community data collection. These traffic surveys will help us to collect baseline data throughout the initial year-long Our Streets Chorlton project.

If you’re a resident of the Chorlton area and are up for taking an active part in the collection of traffic data, then we’re running a series of training sessions in June, to contribute to our collection days in June and July.

The training sessions will cover:

Counting traffic data using an electronic device.

Counting traffic data without a smart device (ie pen and paper).

Best practice for collection, including COVID safety.

Open Data Manchester will be running 2 training sessions for those who wish to take part. They will take place on:

Saturday 05 June, 10am-12pm

Monday 07 June 6.30pm-8.30pm

*Both sessions cover the same material. Simply select a date and time that suits you best.

What is Our Streets Chorlton?

Our Streets Chorlton is a 12-month, community-led project to understand how to help decrease carbon emissions by enabling Chorlton people to reduce local and short car journeys. We are here to support Chorlton on its journey to tackle climate change.

We want to co-develop our project with the whole Chorlton community so that together, we can share a greener, cleaner, less polluted and congested place to live, work, rest, learn and play.

Can I Be An ‘Our Streets Chorlton Champion’?

Yes!

The community engagement project is supporting the development of local champions in and around Chorlton with areas of people’s interest; schools, climate action and data gathering.
